Small set-up changes work out for Spies
"When Ben got off the bike after the first few laps he said it reminded him of Kyalami, but once we got it tuned a bit it didn't seem quite that bad," said Houseworth. "But there still seem to be some good bumps in some areas. We learned a bit from Kyalami also, so maybe we were a little better here than we were in Kyalami. We got caught with our pants down a little bit even though we tested there, for some reason. I think we were pretty good at Imola."
The most obvious change on Spies' machine at the test was a new riding position, as Houseworth explained. "We are trying to get Ben's riding position a little more towards the back on the brakes, because he is coming a little forward. We went a little too far, so if we split the difference we should be all right. It was about 20mm or so. It's just those little things that make the difference. We worked through some Öhlins components and a couple of other things we wanted to look at."
